    Amphetamines. Millions of women in the 1950’s got them from their gynecologists and they really work well. The housework gets done, the lady looks slim, the husband is satisfied by the results.
    If you take them for as little as three days in a row you can get "amphetamine induced psychosis" which can be deadly.
    But nobody really thought women’s minds were worth much back then, and who wants a fat lazy wife?
